E Komo Mai!! ハワイ語で「ようこそ」

It's already half of November!!
もう１１月半ばですよ！

Time is running so fast....I think I've been saying this so many times on this blog.haha
時間が経つのは早いですね･･･私、このブログで何回も言ってる気がします。笑


I've seen banners which say "E Komo Mai" in Waikiki and have been wondering the meaning.
ワイキキで”E Komo Mai”と書かれた旗を見るのですが、ずっと意味が気になっていました。


Then I found out that it means "Welcome" in Hawaiian.
そしてハワイ語で「ようこそ」という意味だということが判明しました。


And Diamond Head was called "Le'ahi/Lae'ahi" it means "eyebrow of tuna".
そして、ダイアモンドヘッドは「レアヒ、またはラエアヒ」と呼ばれており、「まぐろの眉」という意味だそうです。

....Does tuna have eyebrow?
････まぐろって眉毛ありますか？

Today, I got a phone call from a customer who checked our items on ebay.
本日、当店の商品をebay（インターネットオークションサイトです）にてご覧になった方からお電話をいただきました。

He told me that he had been looking for a Nio statue for years then he found our Nio on ebay.
仁王の像を数年間探し続けていたところ、ebayにて当店の仁王を見つけたとおっしゃっておりました。


Found a Nio statue which is in Hawaii on ebay and he called us on Sunday(We started to open the store from today!)...
ebayにてハワイにある仁王の像を見つけ、日曜日に当店にご連絡くださいました（本日から日曜日営業を再開したばかりです！）･･･

Kobebe is one of the new items!
こべべもそのうちのひとつです！






Kobebe was made by Tomesode.
こべべは留袖から出来ております。

Tomesode (留袖) is a type of Kimono. It is an expensive formal dress worn by married women.
留袖は着物の一種で、既婚女性用の高価な物です。

Originally, there was a custom that the long sleeves of the furisode were shortened after marriage, thereby creating a tomesode.
もともとは結婚後、振袖の長い袖を短くすることから留袖が出来ました。

This was because the long swinging sleeves would be impractical when the married woman worked in the kitchen.
長い袖は台所仕事をする際に邪魔になったからだそうです。

The word "tomesode" itself means "formal dress of a married woman."
留袖自体の意味は、「既婚女性のためのフォーマルドレス」だそうです。


The actual Kimono is really big and need to take really good care.
実際の着物は大きいですしお手入れがとても大変です。

Kobebe is not that big but has same quality!
